Often when I begin it is a chaos,
without thought. I look until something,
someone stirs, wants to come out,
then I push to give it a form, an order.
It feels spacial, like sculpting; I cut
things out with the brush, I mold
and burnish what I keep.
I like to paint space, the in-between,
I use a lot of white, a lot happens
with the white - no such thing as
emptiness. I like to paint doubt.
I like the unknown, the otherworldly.
The mysterious and the sacred
to me are one and the same.
